Summary: You've been working really hard on a project - that's not even part of your goddamn job - and it's been wearing you down. Your colleague, who is not even your boss, just a peer in another department who is ostensibly "in charge" of the project but also not really (because the org charts in this place don't make any sense) came to shadow a meeting. A meeting which you had to run, by the way, because the more senior-level people couldn't be bothered to show up. And the next day, your colleague shows up, telling you what a good job you've done. And, um. You like praise. A lot.
