Speaker has been dismissive and sarcastic to the New Guy since he started working in her group because she thinks he’s a friend of her ex-husband's. He thinks he’s been partly responsible for her divorce because he had pressured her husband to confess his affair, but she had caught her ex out herself. Once she realizes he’s not a pal of her ex, she reevaluates him and finds someone interesting. He’s also the younger brother of someone she’s worked with for years and trusts.
