Over arching story: You is a mermaid. Many years ago you met a boy on a shore. You became friends over the course of the summer before he had to travel back home. Every year since then he's been coming back to you in the summer. You're both grown up now and he still comes to visit you. At the start of the summer, you wait for him.
You said good bye in an awkward way the last time you saw each other. Just before he had to go, you asked him to stay, to be with you. He said he would have an answer by the time he came next summer. This is where the script starts.
