Strangers in the Night: The Captain Script Notes: This script, by the brilliant /u/totallynotnatalie, is done in the style of noir fiction. It is meant to mimic the voiceover given at the beginning of most old noir films. It is technically part of a longer series, but each part should work in isolation. Like most noir, this takes place in the 1920s in this case on a 1920s ocean liner.

I pulled my coat closer as I walked up Market Street. It wasn't cold, but the rich side of town always gave me the shivers. Tall towers filled to the brim with corruption. In the slums, people either killed for love or money. But here, people killed to get ahead. If they could get away it, they would slit your throat just to get some cushy corner office. Pathetic. This is a script I begged u/totallynotnatalie to write... and I'm SO in love with it!
I'd hoped the kid's missing sister might be able to give me a lead. But I knew that she wouldn't be of any help if I couldn't find the damn girl. I didn't have a lot of options. And I was desperate enough to do something that I rarely ever did - ask for help. Of course, help is limited the slums. Here, it's every man for himself. Good thing I wasn't planning on asking a man. This is a script I begged u/totallynotnatalie to write... and I'm SO in love with it!
I tried not to garner too many stares as I strolled through campus. Thankfully, it was a quiet afternoon and the last fella I'd met had his nose too far in a book to even notice my heels pounding the pavement. Whatever he was reading sure must have been interesting. My shoes clacked loudly as I walked with a quick pace. To me, it seemed like a distraction. A constant reminder that I was in a place where women weren't allowed to tread. This is a script I begged u/totallynotnatalie to write... and I'm SO in love with it!
It was past midnight when I entered the police station. I knew that I could have come earlier, but I've never been one for crowds. Especially when those crowds were packing heat. Thankfully, all the beat cops went home after hours. So, I didn't have to deal with their incompetence. This is a script I begged u/totallynotnatalie to write... and I'm SO in love with it!
I was careful not to slam the door as I entered Worst Kept Secret. I wanted to be as silent as I could. If I was lucky, he would go quietly. I knew that I had to be quick. But that god damn replica of the Mona Lisa gave me pause. I hated myself for staring. She was only a dumb prop meant to hide the door to the bar. But I had never liked her. This is the final script in this series I begged u/totallynotnatalie to write. At the end, if you listen reeeeeeally closely, you can hear how emotional I got. This has been quite the journey, hasn't it, folks? Just make sure to listen to the whole thing.
I grumbled to myself as I slid open the door of a nearby diner. It was an old haunt of mine. A divey place just a couple blocks from my office. It was called 'Worst Kept Secret'. The name was apt. It was the one of the most notorious speakeasy in the entire city. This is a script I begged u/totallynotnatalie to write... and I'm SO in love with it!
